A new image has been released showing how a student accommodation project on the Calthorpe Estate will look.

The historic, family-owned company has lodged plans to regeneration a run-down site in Edgbaston which previously housed a car showroom and latterly a Texaco garage.

Calthorpe Estates has applied to build a six-storey block on the corner of George Road and Islington Row Middleway, containing a 2,771 sq ft ground floor retail unit and 50 en-suite bedrooms across five floors in shared flats and studios.

The application is due to go before Birmingham City Council's planning committee on Thursday where it has been recommended for approval by officers.

The CGI above has been produced by Jewellery Quarter-based practice Glancy Nicholls Architects.
