Property consultancy CBRE has appointed a new director in its valuation consultancy team in Birmingham.
Mark Whitehouse joins CBRE from big four accountancy firm PwC where he worked for more than six years as a senior manager in the real estate team, advising on distressed property assets and providing advice on complex commercial and residential property-based transactions.
Before joining PwC, Mr Whitehouse headed up the valuation department at property firm JLL in Birmingham and also spent five years as an associate director in the commercial valuation team at CBRE.
He has returned to the firm to head up its residential valuation consultancy in the Midlands and will work closely with Adrian Willett, senior director in the residential land and development team, as well as the commercial valuation team to enhance the firm's capability in the valuation of mixed-use developments.
Mike Stephens, senior director and head of CBRE's valuation advisory team in Birmingham, said: "Mark has been brought on board to develop our residential valuation consultancy business in the Midlands, adding another string to our valuation services bow.
"His appointment will enable us to capitalise on the demand for residential valuation as the residential property market continues to flourish, especially in areas such as the private rented sector, where we expect considerable growth in the future."
Mr Whitehouse said: "It's great to be returning to CBRE. Over the last eight years, the property market has changed considerably, particularly the residential market, which suffered badly as a result of the recession.
"Thankfully, residential property has bounced back, with both lenders and developers active in the market again. This presents a significant opportunity for CBRE.
"I am looking forward to using the knowledge gained working on large residential projects during my time at PwC to grow this side of the business."
