Only months after purchasing the ‘Viva’ office complex next to Mailbox in Birmingham, the expanding Maddox Group has re-packaged the building and sold it to Seal Marketing for £1.25 million.

The Wolverhampton-based operation bought car parking and obtained permission for a mezzanine floor after purchasing the 7,000 sq ft of offices from the Chase Midlands group.

Seal are the first occupiers of the building which was completed by Chase Commercial about a year ago.

Richard Maddox, a director of the Maddox group said the company had realised from the outset that the ‘Viva’ building had “outstanding potential.”

The Maddox Group has now bought the adjoining building at 124 Commercial Street from Chase Midland. It extends to 1,500 sq ft, has two parking spaces and is on offer at £400,000. Mr Maddox said the building was originally a ‘living work unit’ with a flat on the first floor and it also had the advantage of having its own front door in Commercial Street.

He added that the company founded by his father, Peter, nearly 30 years ago had now expanded widely from its Wolverhampton beginnings pushing into Staffordshire and Shropshire as well as into Birmingham and Worcestershire.

He explained that the company had built “firm, positive credentials” in its home city and felt that the time was now opportune to begin looking further.
