Building services provider JS Wright has secured a contract worth more than £1.7 million to fit out a new 22-storey apartment block in Birmingham city centre.

The Aston-headquartered company will equip 189 apartments in the Left Bank development in Broad Street.

JS Wright was chosen by Wates Construction as lead co-ordinator for the mechanical and electrical services for the building which will be constructed on a car park on the corner of Oozells Way and Broad Street.

In addition, the firm will carry out a shell and core fit out of the ground floor to incorporate retail units for the development, which has been designed by Jewellery Quarter-based Glancy Nicholls Architects.

JS Wright, which is currently carrying out the enabling works for the £500 million Paradise development in the city centre, will begin work on site at Left Bank next spring with completion scheduled for June 2018.

Managing director Marcus Aniol said: "Having celebrated our 125th anniversary as a local company last year, we are delighted to be able to use our experience, skills and expertise to help regenerate Birmingham's Broad Street as a vibrant area to live, work and shop."

A second phase of Left Bank will see an 18-storey hotel constructed on the same site to be run by Spanish chain Innside.
