Birmingham-based J S Wright has won a £1 million contract from Rydon Maintenance to upgrade the heating systems for a tower block and two six-storey sheltered blocks on the Ashmole Estate – opposite the Oval cricket ground – run by Metropolitan Housing Trust.
The company has already started designing and fitting a new heating system along with distribution circuitry to each flat at 24-storey Sirinham Point while all the properties remain occupied. The system will run from the building’s existing rooftop plant room.
The work is part of the first phase refurbishment of the Ashmole Estate that will eventually lead to the internal and external upgrading of nearly 700 homes by 2016.
Marcus Aniol, managing director of J S Wright, said: “We are delighted to have won this prestigious contract with Rydon Maintenance, and to be able to make such a major contribution to the well being of people living on the Ashmole Estate.”
