Guerbet Laboratories, the UK subsidiary of Guerbet Group, has taken one of the last remaining offices at Barteak Developments’ Avon House in Solihull.

The company, which specialises in the discovery and manufacture of contrast agents for medical imaging, such as X-ray and MRI, has taken 1,830 sq ft, at a rent of £18 per sq ft, on the third floor of the building.

Guerbet Laboratories was established in 1994 and supplies contrast agents to more than 250 private and 500 NHS customers. The company has moved to Avon House from its previous location at Birmingham Business Park.

Levi Cheng, general manager of Guerbet Laboratories, said: “As part of an international business, it was important to find a building that could provide us with easy access to transport links, such as the airport, train station and motorways, as we have regular overseas visitors and our employees travel extensively too, both locally and abroad.

“Avon House met this important criteria, as well as a number of others, including the quality and specification of accommodation and access to local amenities.”

The letting to Guerbet means that just 6,500 sq ft remains at the building.

Julian King, development surveyor at Barteak, said: “As the end of the year approaches, the letting to Guerbet is a fitting finish to what has been a successful 12 months for Avon House.

“Despite the challenging economic conditions, we have managed to let 75 per cent of the building, which not only demonstrates the quality on offer at the building but also the appetite from businesses for affordable, sustainable, well-located, high specification office space.”

CB Richard Ellis and Martin Bloomer Associates are joint agents for the development.
