A prime Birmingham office building that was completed in the teeth of the recession has secured another key occupier.

45 Church Street, which is already home to Coutts & Co, Mazars, Liberty Mutual Insurance Europe, Jones Lang LaSalle and Hyman Robertson, has seen the Business Growth Fund (BGF) take 5,000 sq ft on the 11th floor on a 10-year lease.

The deal was brokered by joint agents, DTZ and GBR Phoenix Beard on behalf of Standard Life Investments.

The BGF is a £2.5 billion equity investment company established to provide long-term capital to fast-growing small to medium-sized UK businesses. The BGF is independent of government and backed by five of the UK’s main banking groups in collaboration with the British Bankers’ Association. It has five offices across the UK in London, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Bristol and Manchester. Business Secretary Vince Cable attended its launch in Birmingham earlier this year.

Matt Long of DTZ said: “45 Church Street offers unrivalled city centre accommodation. A high quality and contemporary finish with flexible work space in a prestigious location has meant the scheme has attracted a number of high profile national and international occupiers in the finance and professional services sector.”
