A city centre office building has secured its first tenant following a refurbishment programme.

Gleeson Recruitment Group, the professional services recruitment specialist, has taken the entire 6,335 sq ft eighth floor of Edmund House on the corner of Newhall Street and Edmund Street.

Patrizia UK acquired the 79,156 sq ft building in a joint venture with funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management since when it has carried out a refurbishment of the ten-storey building, bringing the accommodation up to grade A standard.

The letting is Gleeson's first permanent premises in the city which joins its sister sites in London and Reading.

Patrizia UK said two other floors of Edmund House were also currently under offer which would take the building to circa 40 per cent let.

Head of investment management Andy Brooksbank said: "Edmund House was one of our first acquisitions in the UK.

"We welcome Gleeson and look forward to signing further tenants in the near future."

Jason Blakey, director at Gleeson Recruitment Group, added: "Since we opened our initial office in Birmingham in 2011, we have gone from strength to strength.

"Birmingham is an extremely exciting place to be right now and the time is right for us to put down some proper roots here."

Marcus Hayes from Boss represented Gleeson Recruitment Group and joint letting agencies on the building are CBRE and GBR Phoenix Beard.
