Specialist property consultants at ES Group have completed the sale the former distribution centre of household names Royal Doulton and Wedgwood.

The property firm, with an office in Birmingham, led the sale of Granite, a 213,000 sq ft logistics warehouse at Jasper Way in Stone Business Park.

It was sold on the instruction of LPA receivers, who were appointed in late 2012, for an undisclosed sum.

Originally constructed in the early 1990s, Granite was built to house the global distribution centre for the famous pottery products, but the tenant vacated the building in 2010 and the property has remained unlet since.

New purchaser RKW is part of the Sutton Venture Group, a leading distributor of electrical and household products throughout Europe, which will occupy the building as a ‘global fulfilment centre’.

Robert Diggle, agency partner at ES Group, said: “We are delighted to have concluded the sale to RKW on this large logistics warehouse.

“There has been strong demand from both tenants and owner-occupiers given its excellent location between junctions 14 and 15 of the M6. We have also seen improving market conditions in the region and there is a clear lack of equivalent premises available in the area.”

ES Group is the collective name for Edward Symmons, Storeys Edward Symmons and Aaron Fox. The group employs a team of specialist surveyors and valuers, totalling 275 staff in 10 offices around the UK, including a West Midlands base in Birmingham.
