A landmark property in the centre of Birmingham has been sold in a £5 million deal.

Hockley Heath-based Earlplace has sold the freehold interest in 8-10 Bennett's Hill and 12 Waterloo Street to Nurton Developments for £4.76 million.

Earlplace refurbished the upper floor offices which are now let to several recruitment companies. Nurton intends to occupy the major office suite as its new Birmingham city centre headquarters.

The property is also let to Marston's which operated the well-known pub and wine bar Bennett's. The whole property produces a rent in excess of £228,000 a year.

Tim Malby, managing director of Earlplace, said the sale would allow the company to expand its growing portfolio across the country.

"Despite the evaporation of credit generally and the sharp slowdown in the market, we were pleased to achieve such a positive sale in difficult conditions," he said.
