The £6.5 million Cofton Centre at Longbridge has successfully been completed, launching a new industrial era for the world famous site in Birmingham.

Developed by St Modwen, the UK’s leading regeneration specialist, the two high-specification units at the Cofton Centre mark the first step in the planned resurrection of industrial and commercial activity at Longbridge.

The 35-acre site offers companies the first opportunity to establish a base in what will become the most important site for industry and innovation in the region.

The self-contained and secure estate will form an integral part of the wider £750 million Longbridge regeneration project. Up for sale or to let, the pair of newly-completed industrial units are part of the first phase of the £23 million landmark redevelopment of the former car-storage site.

Mike Murray, senior development manager for St Modwen, says: “Following the recent submission of four major planning applications for the entire Longbridge project, the news of the Cofton Centre’s completion represents another important step towards the realisation of St Modwen’s vision for this area.

“The location of the units in relation to the region’s transport infrastructure makes them ideal for companies wishing to capitalise on the close links to the region’s motorway network, especially pertinent in light of spiralling transportation costs. Being in close reach of the A38, M5 and M42 means the Cofton Centre is ideally located to service the entire West Midlands region and beyond.”

The two units are both rated very good on the Breeam standard and feature external facades designed to an extremely high level. Complementing the two existing units on site, the two new additions offer almost 75,000 sq ft of modern commercial space.

James Checketts, of agents GVA Grimley, says: “The sheer size of the freehold space available at the Cofton Centre has raised the bar on the standard of available industrial space in the regional market. The biggest lure for prospective occupiers is that the Cofton Centre offers a safe, secure estate for business in a key location, while on-site staff provide maintenance, landscape and security services.”
