An office building on a key city centre thoroughfare has been placed up for auction with a guide price of £950,000.

CPBigwood will be auctioning the 19,251 sq ft, 150-152 Great Charles Street in October with a long leasehold.

It has 17 parking spaces and currently houses the Birmingham Chest Clinic and the Sexual Health Clinic and is expected to attract interest from both commercial and residential property developers.

The site, which is council owned and once housed some of its offices, is boosted by its proximity to the Jewellery Quarter, Colmore Row and the new Paradise Circus development while nearby Louisa Ryland House was placed on sale by the city council earlier this year.

CPBigwood senior partner Rory Daly said: "This is a landmark building and it is bound to produce strong interest.

"It is going to be one of the most significant disposals in Birmingham this year and it is bound to attract the attention of some of the big property companies."

It is being offered as part vacant part investment and the total plot extends to about half an acre, forming part of a wider 3.7-acre central island site which includes Lombard House.

Mr Daly added: "With the city centre continuing to develop rapidly and a number of recent announcements on new investment and development proposals, this is another brick in the wall.

"I think it is going to be very exciting to see who comes forward for 150-152 Great Charles Street and what their plans might be."

The auction is being held on October 23 at Aston Villa.
