Insurance broker Balens has acquired a new office in Worcestershire to accommodate its planned expansion.

The company has bought the building formerly used by JobCentre Plus in Malvern town centre from a guide price of £600,000 and will relocate from Nimrod House.

Family-owned Balens was founded in 1950 and is a specialist insurance broker for health, well-being and not-for-profit organisations and is doubling its office space to 7,000 sq ft with the move.

Property consultancy GJS Dillon sold the offices to Balens on behalf of landlords Stanton Properties.

Toby Fellows, of GJS Dillon, said: "We had a lot of interest in this well-located office building, including from property development companies. As a result of this the premises sold for significantly above the guide price."

In a separate deal, property development company Rosconn Group has acquired a 2,085 sq ft office building at 1 Grove Road, in Stratford, off a guide price of £365,000.

It was once the headquarters of printing business Stratford Repro and Rosconn will now sub-let some of the space following the move from Union Street in Stratford.

Managing director Daniel O'Donnell said the firm was expecting to create about 10 jobs as a result of the move.

The building was being marketed by Birmingham-based consultancy CPBigwood.

Partner Graham Carter said: "It is a prime spot and we were very pleased to agree the sale to Rosconn Group."
