Budget supermarket chain Aldi has opened a new distribution hub in Staffordshire.

The company has launched a new 120,000 sq ft warehouse on Tamworth's Centurion Park to complement its existing operation in Atherstone, north Warwickshire.

Aldi has agreed a six-year lease with a break at three years for the premises which is close to the A5 and junction 10 of the M42 with space for 23 HGVs.

Ed Forrester, associate director of industrial and logistics agency at Lambert Smith Hampton in Birmingham, acted for Aldi and Jones Lang LaSalle represented the landlord Industrial Property Investment Fund.

Mr Forrester said: "Properties of this size and calibre are few and far between in the area, so we were very keen to agree terms with the landlords to secure Centurion 120 for Aldi.

"Negotiations with the landlord's agent went very smoothly so were able to complete the transaction quickly and to everyone's satisfaction."

Other companies on the park include Home Retail Group, Norbert Dentressangle, and AAH Pharmaceuticals.
