Birmingham-based communications consultancy Clarke Associates are blowing their own trombone after landing two significant pieces of new business.

The consultancy has been appointed to handle public relations for Warwick Music to promote the world’s first plastic trombone.

And after working with the Kings Heath Business Improvement District (BID) to successfully secure another five-year term, they have been reappointed by the organisation to promote the area further.

Clarke Associates will be working with the team at Warwick Music to increase the awareness of the world’s first plastic trombone – called pBone – to end-users and helping drive sales through the retail channel.

The pBone has received critical acclaim across the music industry and beyond.

Developed in the UK by three enthusiastic brass players, pBone has proved a big hit with beginners and professionals alike and the product is now being distributed in the UK by Vincent Bach International and in the US by Conn-Selmer.

The trombone was recently awarded Music Inc’s Product Excellence award. The award is based on voting from US music instrument retailers.

The accolade follows hot on the heels of pBone being declared ‘best in show – this year’s hottest products’ – at the highly prestigious NAMM Show. For more information, visit www.pbone.co.uk

After successfully working with the Kings Heath BID between 2009 and 2012, to secure a further five-year term, Clarke Associates have been reappointed by the BID to promote the area and increase shopper numbers to the suburb.

Kings Heath is one of Birmingham’s leading shopping suburbs and boasts a unique and eclectic mix of independent stores and large chains, combined with a real sense of community.

The shop vacancy rate is half the national average, and the area recently won Silver Gilt in this year’s Britain in Bloom awards.

The work of the BID helps to improve the infrastructure and safety in the area as well as supporting businesses through promotion and a BID funded mystery shopper.

David Clarke, managing director of Clarke Associates, said adding pBone and continuing the relationship with the Kings Heath BID demonstrated the agency’s breadth of offering and the weight they place on strong client relationships.

“These are two very different clients, reaching very different audiences.

"Warwick Music are looking to us to drive the trade to take on the product as well as broader consumer awareness, where the Kings Heath BID need Clarke Associates’ unrivalled knowledge of the West Midlands region.

"The fact that they have chosen to renew their contract with us is down to tangible results and in-depth client understanding.”
