The chief executive of one of Birmingham’s oldest charities has cycled more than 500 miles to raise almost £2,000 for his employers.
Martin Holcombe, head of the Birmingham Settlement, and his co-worker Mark Sargent cycled from Birmingham to Brussels over six days.
The Settlement provides a range of services including money advice, support for children and older people’s services, volunteering opportunities and development help for community organisations.
“Each time I climb on the bike I wonder what I’m letting myself in for,” Mr Holcombe said.
“But once you get going, the adrenalin takes over. The camaraderie was fantastic and to have raised so much from so many generous donations is fantastic.
“We’d like to thank everyone who donated and encourage them to look at the website to see what we got up to along the way.”
