A group of 21 budding chefs from the Midlands were given a taste of Scottish cooking at its best when they were treated to a weekend at Nick Nairn's Cook School.

The chefs, who work for business caterer Eurest in the staff restaurants of various companies across the Midlands, were flown to the celebrity chef's school near Edinburgh for a weekend of team building, creativity and finetuning the skills of their craft.

Ready Steady Cook's, Nick Nairn, who has written a number of best selling cookery books and is known as one of the top chefs in Scotland, set up the Cook School five years ago to run fun courses for the general public as well as highly specialised courses for industry experts.

Set in the Menteith hills, the chefs enjoyed some well-deserved relaxation at the beautiful Lake Hotel, while gaining tips and advice to make the very best of their culinary skills.

According to operations director Caron Naylor, the training weekend was a chance to reward some of the company's top chefs, while helping to keep them motivated and enthusiastic in their busy roles:

"Our chefs were very excited about the weekend and had a fabulous time enhancing their skills and picking up tips from the experts, as well as tasting some wonderful dishes. Just as important however, was the fact that they had fun as a team and enjoyed the experience."
