Charter flights from Birmingham Airport to Malta are to return this summer.

Air Malta will operate two weekly flights to and from Birmingham every Tuesday and Friday, between May and October.

William Pearson, aviation development director at Birmingham Airport, added: “These charter flights are a great addition to our summer schedule and we’re sure they’ll prove to be very popular with passengers who want to grab some Mediterranean sun.

“This latest route announcement is proof that people living in the West Midlands and the surrounding areas want to fly from their local airport.”

Philip Saunders, chief commercial officer for Air Malta, said: “Our summer charter operations further confirms the airline’s commitment to boost incoming tourism to Malta from the UK, and to bring Malta closer to their home.

“These flights also make it much easier for the Maltese market to visit the British regions.”
