Birmingham professionals have raised more than £3,000 for charity by abseiling down a city centre hotel.

Thirty participants, including staff at the Hampton by Hilton on Broad Street, BBC and Free Radio presenters, climbed down 150ft led by Mike Olley, chairman of the Broad Street BID and BBC’S Frankie McCamley to raise money for Comic Relief, which helps people in the UK and Africa.

Peter Hendry, general manager of the Hampton by Hilton, said: “Working in the hotel every day, you don’t appreciate how tall the building is until you are outside on the roof, looking down.

“Raising money for charity is all about doing something out of the ordinary and it was great to see so many people from across the city coming together to support such a fantastic cause.”
