Charlotte Ritchie has been promoted to head of policy at Birmingham Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
She was formerly the Chamber's policy executive.
The promotion comes during her second stint at the Chamber - she left for the CBI in London and returned 18 months ago.
As well as her policy duties, she has been responsible for organising Chamber lobbying groups on energy and pensions.
Aged 27, Ms Ritchie, who is married and lives in Quinton, said: "The importance of the policy department cannot be under-estimated. It is the way the Chamber makes sure that the views of its members are heard at local and national level.
"I will be making sure that the Chamber's excellent reputation for making its opinions known at the highest levels, does not diminish."
