Cadbury is reported to be selling its shares in National Lottery operator Camelot.
The Bournville confectioner is one of five major shareholders.
Reports also said that Thales, the French aerospace group, had also indicated to the Camelot board that it would be disposing of its shares.
The remaining shareholders - Royal Mail, Fujitsu and De La Rue - are understood to be keen on retaining their stakes.
