Birmingham’s business tourism body claims city venues are already profiting from events moving out of London during the busy Olympic season.

Meet Birmingham said it expects more business as result of the games.

Conference and training venue provider Etc Venues, has a meeting space on Corporation Street, Birmingham, and 11 venues in London.

Birmingham general manager Guy Booth said: “We are starting to notice London-based companies moving their business to Birmingham from late July as a direct result of the Olympic Games, which puts us in a strong position as we continue to grow our brand.”

Birmingham is hosting training camps for the two highest-profile international Track and Field teams at the Olympics, USA and Jamaica.

Venues including the Birmingham Hippodrome, Symphony Hall and Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery will hold events as part of the Cultural Olympiad celebration.
