This week Birmingham Made Me is holding the City's largest Jobs Fair Free and Open to All young people from 6-9 May at Millennium Point.
All employers will have live jobs ready to offer on the day.
It's a collaboration between partners including Birmingham City University, Birmingham City Council, Birmingham Metropolitan College, Millennium Point, GBSLEP and Skills Show Experience.
As a city with over 120,000 students in higher and further education we want to give them the best chance of finding work here in the West Midlands.
Too often it's easier for our young talent to find work in London, the South East or elsewhere. For those interested in working here, we're showcasing employment opportunities that may interest them!
The Birmingham Jobs Fair is entirely free for the more than 70 employers attending.
The organisers are expecting thousands of young people, especially on 9th May when the focus is on all 16-24 year olds getting employment in the region.
Whilst the event takes place over four days 6-9 May, two days are the focus of the Jobs Fair - Graduate Jobs on 8th May at Millennium Point and Young People Jobs Fair 9th May taking place on two sites at Millennium Point and Birmingham Metropolitan College Jennens Road.
There'll be a great line up of highly respected brands and from the private and public sectors. These include Jaguar Land Rover, MG, Cap Gemini, Amey, AGA Rangemaster, Wesleyan, KPMG, DHL, Carillion, Thomas Vale Construction, Midlands Cooperatives Society, EEF, NHS University Hospital Birmingham, West Midlands Police, HMRC, West Midlands Fire Service.
A range of events and Master Classes with employers, Birmingham Aspire, Birmingham Chamber of Commerce are being hosted at Millennium Point. These will cover practical tips on CV and interview presentation, personal styling and grooming as well as how to make yourself stand out from the crowd!
6th May sees Sir Albert Bore, Leader Birmingham City Council, launching a debate on 'Designing HS2 Curzon for Birmingham' . Speakers include Andrew Round, Regeneration and Planning, Birmingham City Council and Professor Kathryn Moore, Landscape Architecture, Birmingham City University.
'Doing Business with Open Data' is being hosted by Science Capital on 6th May with inspiring speakers from Digital Life Sciences, Aston University, Droplet and the Open Data Forum. It includes a session hosted by accountants Mazars where aspiring entrepreneurs can access up to £2k from TSB for really good ideas they're looking to launch.
7th May sees a range of activities focussed around designing and making with Black Country Atelier providing the chance to take part in and catch a glimpse of the future of manufacturing and Learn by Design hosting a session where you can make your own solar buggy!
One highlight of 7th May will be the launch, by Dance Xchange, of 'All of Birmingham is a Stage' as a collaboration with the School of Architecture at the Birmingham Institute of Art & Design. Dance performances will take place that evening and again on 8th and 9th May in the Atrium, Millennium Point.
8t h May , Graduate Jobs Fair will be buzzing with activities...And over 40 employers are offering live graduate positions on the day.
Awards will be presented to 20 finalists of the Schools Design Competition from 5-6.30pm on 8th May following the Graduate Jobs Fair .
Guest speakers Lewis Barnes, founder and director, Lantyx , Engagement Manager with Cap Gemini and Olga Militsi, Marketing consultant and advisor, 2KM Group , and at BCU we are proud that both these inspiring young people are BCU alumni.
On 9th May during the Young People Jobs Fair Dr Kerry Gough from the School of Media at Birmingham City University will be showcasing the work of 200 students aspiring to work as media professionals in Birmingham and beyond.
Wrapping up the event a live 'Birmingham2 Dialogue BA:BB' will be held with Birmingham Alabama. The team speaking 'for' Birmingham West Midlands will be led by Sir Albert Bore, Leader Birmingham City Council and includes a prestigious line up - Jack Dromey MP, Richard Burden MP, Steve McCabe MP , with Midlands business people including William McGrath, Chief Executive, AGA Rangemaster and Simon Topman, CEO, Acme Whistles and Chairman Millennium Point.
From Birmingham Alabama we will be joined by Matthew Chambers,CEO, Confederate Motorcycles, Connie Sherrod, CEO, Vance Tool, Johnathan Austin, President of the Birmingham Alabama City Council.
A live 'Birmingham2' online discussion will take place between both cities looking at how education-business collaborations can help fuel economic growth, foster innovation and creativity and how design can "show the way" forward in creating new markets and better quality of life for all.
