Warwickshire County Cricket Club hopes to knock its rivals for six in aid of its charity partner, Cure Leukaemia by taking part in this year’s Bupa Great Birmingham Run Business Challenge.

A total of 20 runners from Edgbaston Stadium have entered the half marathon on Sunday October 20, ranging in age from 22-50 and including directors, office staff and members of the catering team.

The team of runners at Edgbaston are taking part to support Cure Leukaemia’s aim of employing more specialist nurses that will deliver potentially lifesaving drugs that are not readily available through the NHS.

Heidi Ferguson, sales and marketing executive at Edgabston Stadium, said: “Raising funds for Cure Leukaemia has been a big focus for the club for several years, and the Bupa Great Birmingham Run will follow our other major fundraising activity for the charity which takes place at England’s NatWest Series ODI against Australia here on September 11. We are surrounded by people who play sport for a living and have a gym here at Edgbaston, so sport is all around us and it’s all very accessible.

“Our finance director Craig Flindall has run several half marathons but we also have people in the team running this distance for the first time, so we’re all looking forward to the challenge.”
