More than 4,000 visitors are expected at the NEC this week for one of the UK’s key solar energy events.
Solar Energy UK, which is taking place from October 14-16, is now in its fifth year and has become the country’s largest B2B solar energy exhibition.
Amber Rudd, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department of Energy and Climate Change, is one of several keynote speakers lined-up for the event.
Ms Rudd will update delegates on government solar policy and assess the solar industry’s contribution to the Government’s low-carbon strategy.
The 2014 Solar Energy UK event comes towards the end of a year that has seen record growth for the UK industry.
Installed capacity has increased considerably, with a record deployment figure forecast to reach 2.4GW by the end of this year.
Hilda Ho, marketing coordinator Solar Energy UK, said: “Solar Energy UK reflects the buzz in the UK industry and visitor registrations were up by 50 per cent.
“More than 200 exhibitors have confirmed and the Solar Power Portal Awards dinner has sold out.
“Over the three days more than 4,000 attendees are expected at the NEC.”
In addition to Ms Rudd, 80 speakers will update delegates with speeches covering everything from finance to standards for new installations and electric vehicles to local authority projects.
