Voting is underway to decide who is top of the shops in Birmingham city centre.

The Retail Birmingham Awards 2014, in partnership with Trinity Mirror, publisher of the Birmingham Post, celebrates the best stores on the High Street and beyond.

Retail Birmingham, the business improvement district (BID), represents more than 1,000 city centre businesses. Every retailer in the BID area, including bars, restaurants, hotels and banks, will get the chance to nominate themselves, a colleague or a team to win an award. Shoppers can nominate online at ShoppinginBirmingham.com until March 22.

The awards are sponsored by the National Skills Academy for Retail at Solihull College.

The award categories are:

* Retail Team of the Year

* Retail Talent of the Year (under 25)

* Retail Person of the Year

* Outstanding Customer Service (Independent Retailer) – Public nominations

* Outstanding Customer Service (Major Retailer) – Public nominations

Following the closing date, winners will be selected by a panel of judges including editor of the Birmingham Post, Stacey Barnfield; Laura Bielinski, Trinity Mirror sales director; Jonathan Cheetham, chairman of Retail Birmingham and Shaun Hindle, senior director of employment and skills at Solihull College.

Mr Barnfield said: “With a vibrant retail scene, it’s great to play a part in selecting the best stores in the city.”
