The annual Birmingham Post Corporate Pairs Challenge, in association with Sheridan Maine, took place at Blackwell Golf Club, with many companies from across Birmingham competing to win two flights to New York courtesy of United.

In some challenging conditions, Matt Holden-Jones, of H-J Wealth Planning, and his playing partner, Kevin Mann, of Advanced Colour Coatings, triumphed by one point over Imperial Commercial’s Jo Byrne and Sean O’Leary.

Players were joined on the day by celebrity golfers Alan Smith and Ron Atkinson and raised money for the charity Liam’s Smiles ( www.liamssmiles.co.uk ).

Jamie Rodden, managing director of accountancy recruitment company Sheridan Maine, said: “Despite a bit of rain, it was a great golf day. As a new recruitment business in town, the timing of this high-profile event coincided with our launch and it was a good opportunity for us to meet so many businesses and for them to find out what we do.”
