Plans for a new apartment complex on a derelict piece of city centre land have been unveiled again.

Edgbaston-based property group Hamptons Development is hoping to build 118 apartments on land off Holloway Head in a scheme reaching up to nine storeys.

This firm lodged plans back into 2016 to build 108 apartments on the land between Ernest Street and Florence and then came back again at the turn of this year with revamped proposals to build 126 apartments in a 12-storey complex but this was withdrawn.

Now a third iteration of its project has been proposed, comprising 88 one-bedroom and 30 two-bedrooms apartments, including seven penthouses, all of which will be available to rent only.

There will also be a commercial unit on the ground floor, basement parking for 63 cars, with half of the spaces offering electric charging points, along with space for 130 bikes.

The application land sits next to the Pentahotel and is currently unused.

Plans for the site date back as far as 2006 when Larch Homes won permission to build 60 apartments but the company fell victim to the 2008 recession after which the land was acquired by Hamptons.
