Birmingham-based  independent transport planning consultancy Phil Jones Associates has expanded its network of offices by launching a new base in Reading.

The Longbridge company said the opening was to cater for its growing number of projects in the south as well as bolstering its presence in the region, building on its current office in central London.

A team of four planners and engineers have relocated from the Birmingham headquarters to the new office which are led by Cullan Riley.

It said it planned to create more jobs within months as the branch expanded.

Mr Riley said: "This office is a new venture for Phil Jones Associates in many respects - a new location, flexible working and firm commitment to new technologies.

"Reading provides us with a dynamic and pleasant working environment, a talented work pool, connectivity with our clients and the town's growing urban design community, in addition to fast access to London and key transport gateways.

"We are looking forward to making our Reading office every bit the success that our Birmingham headquarters has been."

Phil Jones Associates' projects in the south include shared space at Bournemouth Winter Gardens and residential developments at ITV Meridian's former studios in Southampton.
