One of the UK's largest software providers has unveiled its new flagship Midlands HQ in Birmingham's Mailbox complex today.

Advanced Computer Software has also rebranded to Advanced as part of the move which is expected to employ 400 people eventually.

The new hub will replace the firm's existing base at Birmingham Science Park Aston.

The company, which is headquartered in Berkshire, provides a range of software and IT services to the private, public and not-for-profit sectors aimed at reducing costs, improving efficiencies and driving growth.

It is also launching a major recruitment drive which is expected to create 1,000 roles over the next 18 months, almost half of which will be based in Birmingham.

It has 2,000 staff at various locations across the UK and abroad and its customer base includes Virgin Trains, Harvey Nichols and Birmingham Children's Hospital.

First unveiled last year, Advanced's new office covers 45,000 sq ft of space on the third floor of the mixed-use complex which reopened in 2015 after undergoing a £50 million overhaul which included a new-look Harvey Nichols and revamped mall.

Chief executive Gordon Wilson said: "The launch of our new Birmingham office is a key milestone in our business growth strategy and the talent acquisition programme represents a great opportunity for individuals considering a career in IT.

"We are passionate about identifying dynamic, high performing and motivated individuals who are invaluable to our future expansion and who will make a major contribution to our company culture.

"Birmingham is the clear choice given it has the UK's largest regional urban economy and is the most popular destination outside the South East for mass millennial migration."

Mark Rogers, chief executive of Birmingham City Council, added: "It is great news that Advanced has chosen to launch in Birmingham, creating hundreds of new training and career opportunities for the city's workforce.

"With over £1 billion of investment in the last year, the Greater Birmingham region is enjoying significant growth. We are building an unprecedented amount of modern office space and investing record amounts to improve transport links.

"Advanced's arrival demonstrates the strength of Birmingham's offer for major British brands looking to locate here."
