The Midlands Media Awards, held annually by Birmingham Press Club to celebrate the achievements of journalists, photographers, broadcasters and bloggers from throughout the region, were held at Edgbaston Stadium.

Hosted by ITV Central’s Bob Warman, who is president of the Press Club, and Llewela Bailey, from BBC West Midlands, the event was sponsored by HSBC UK, Birmingham City University, Bareface, mclcreate, Awarded2U and 7LOCO.

Entertainment was provided by singer Pippa Langhorne, a former finalist on TV show Britain’s Got Talent.

This year the President’s Award was presented to broadcast journalist Jonathan Gibson, of BBC West Midlands, for “consistently high levels of professionalism” with a portfolio of probing investigative reports, while ITV Central’s Balvinder Sidhu won the Story of the Year accolade with her revealing report into Asian grooming.

The Newspaper of the Year trophy was awarded to the Express & Star.
