Business opportunities in Birmingham have the capability to produce better results than in London, according to Turkish Airlines’ Regional General Manager Selim Ozturk.
Based at Birmingham Airport Mr Ozturk revealed his passion for the second city as Turkish Airlines is voted the leading airline in Europe for five consecutive years by Skytrax, the airline and airport ranking website.
The airlines exclusive menu and flying chef on all medium and long haul flights have also seen them recently awarded the world’s ‘Best Business Catering Service’.
“Birmingham city centre is at the heart of the region’s financial and professional services sector,” he said.
“Significant number of students study business and law in the West Midlands region.
“There are also medical research facilities and clinical trial programmes centred around the University of Birmingham.
“The city is a major international commercial centre, it’s an important transport, retail, events and conference hub.
“Its metropolitan economy is the second largest in the UK and its universities make it the largest centre of higher education in the country outside London.
“Birmingham’s connectivity and ‘international status’ are a major operational benefit, along with its affordability. You can set up a business, grow it organically, and still be able to afford a great living. This definitely isn’t as achievable in London!
“Turkish Airlines flights from Birmingham launched in 2008. By increasing its frequency every year, the airline has reached 13 flights weekly and has increased flights to double daily since May 30th.”
Turkish Airlines’ dedication to the city is further shown in their support of the Birmingham Post Business Awards.
It is the second year that the airline has signed up to be a headline sponsor.
This year they are also sponsoring the BPBA 2016 Contribution to Community category.
“The Birmingham Post Business Awards is the leading industry event in our region for recognising business excellence. At Turkish Airlines, we consistently strive to be the best in our field, as does every business being showcased at the awards this year.
“We are on board with the Contribution to Community category this year as Turkish Airlines is keen to promote large investments in Birmingham, from businesses at home and abroad.
“We therefore choose to reward the companies leading the way and spreading the spirit of enterprise across the region.
“Birmingham has a year round world class cultural offering with some of the best theatre, music, dance, and visual arts companies in Europe. It’s this kind of creativity that is inspiring many people to work, visit and travel to Birmingham.
“The city is home to more than one million people from a range of different cultures and ethnic groups. Turkish Airlines flies to more countries than any other airline in the world so offers Birmingham’s travellers the chance to explore a global network of destinations.
“Turkish Airlines’ main hub, Istanbul, is among the most beautiful cities in the world with its position as a bridge between Asia and Europe.”
