More than 70 people attended the first Rise & Grind breakfast event hosted by Downtown Birmingham in Business and held at the Everyman Cinema in the city centre.
The Mailbox cinema was busy with guests from a variety of businesses, keen to pick up copies of Downtown’s latest Big Black Book guide, which features Movers & Shakers, Ones To Watch and Female Leaders from Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Lancashire and Birmingham.
PR expert Lis-Lewis Jones, of Birmingham-based agency Liquid, gave a fascinating talk about crisis communications, using topical issues and news coverage as reference points, before taking questions from the audience.
Downtown Birmingham chairman Stacey Barnfield welcomed guests with a brief overview of events in the DIB calendar, such as a discussion about Business Improvement Districts and their impact; a look at transport schemes and how they affect business, and more networking events and members-only dinners and debates in the city.
