Life's sweet for the entrepreneur behind a dessert business after Birmingham’s iconic Selfridges store agreed to stock her product.

Mum-of-two Yvonne Tweddle launched Little Devil dessert snack pots from a factory in Aston just five months ago.

The company has quickly gone from strength to strength.

The desserts are already stocked at Harrod’s and Selfridges , in London, as well as Partridges – the shop that supplies the Royal household.

Now Selfridges in Birmingham has begun to line its shelves with the pots of strawberries with chocolate dip sauces.

The 38-year-old, from Kings Bromley, Staffordshire, said: “I’ve been delighted that my product has been winning over high-profile stores like Harrods and Partridges and it was amazing to think the Queen could be enjoying my dessert at Buckingham Palace.

“But I really am over the moon that my creation will be stocked in Birmingham’s Selfridges.

“I was overwhelmed when I found out as it means so much to me to be succeeding in the city where the business started, particularly at a store that is so high-profile.”

Yvonne dreamed up Little Devil while working for her husband Mark’s Shropshire firm, Jupiter Marketing Ltd, which supplies fruit to the wholesale and retail market.

“I knew there must be a way of adding value to the product,” she said. “I did some research and I found that there was nothing quite like this on the market.

“I think it appeals to consumers of all ages – you can serve it to children while adults will like the naughtier side of it.”

Yvonne, who juggles the business with raising her children, Sophie, seven, and four-year-old Nathan, sells the products through her business Fruitanize, based in Mill Street.

She has ploughed thousands of pounds into bespoke machinery at the HQ, which she describes as a “strawberry salon”.

Each piece of fruit is showered with water before being run through a drying tunnel to keep the product fresh.

“Birmingham has proved to be the perfect place to do business,” she added.

“It’s not by accident we opened the factory in Birmingham. So many great brands have started in this city and we hope to be the next.”

Vicki Cain, general manager of Selfridges in Birmingham, added: “We are always keen to support local business and innovation so it’s an added bonus for us that Yvonne and her product are Birmingham based.”
