Businesses in Birmingham will have the opportunity to test their athletic abilities against each other as the Colmore Business District (CBD) Community Games event returns for a second year.

Following the success of last year’s event, set up to celebrate the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, organisers CBD will be hosting another Community Games in Victoria Square tomorrow.

Activities will be provided by national governing bodies of sport England Hockey, British Rowing and Canoe England. England Hockey will be hosting five-a-side rush hockey tournaments, with 16 pre-submitted teams from the CBD business community.

All proceeds will be donated to CBD’s chosen charities – Children’s Liver Disease Foundation and the Rape & Sexual Violence Project. Georgina Roseff, graduate engineer and rush hockey team member for Peter Brett Associates, said: “It’s great that the CBD is bringing national sports bodies directly to the business community and providing an opportunity for us to get involved in a fun day of sport and meet others from the district.

“Most employees tend to get the chance to mix with their counterparts at traditional networking events, so it will be refreshing to meet others in a completely different setting while playing sport.”
