Temple Row's popular cocktail bar and restaurant The Botanist has been given the go ahead to expand.
The restaurant, which has proved a big hit in the Birmingham restaurant scene since opening in April 2015, has plans to convert a basement which was previously used as a gym.
Renowned for its quirky dishes served in wheelbarrows and cocktails presented in watering cans, the venue is looking to create two private dining rooms to cater for small groups.
Birmingham City Council has given the go ahead to the plans, which will also include creating a cloak room and glass washing area.
The restaurant is part of a company called Living Ventures, which is preparing to open cocktail bar The Alchemist and European style cafe Gusto in the Grand Hotel later this year .
