Budget supermarket chain Aldi says it is embarking on a major recruitment drive in the West Midlands as it attempts to fill around 350 roles.

The German firm said the move would support its continued expansion in the area throughout 2016.

Among the roles it is trying to fill are store managers and assistants, deputy store managers and stock assistants at shops in Birmingham, Dudley and Bearwood among others.

Store operations director Nicola Morgan said: "The West Midlands continues to be a key area of growth for Aldi and our investment in our new and existing stores in the area has created an immediate need for more staff.

"We are looking to attract applicants from a diverse range of backgrounds, including supermarket, fast-food and clothing chains, who can demonstrate relevant retail experience, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment."

Other West Midlands stores with vacancies include in Wednesfield, Bordesley Green, Castle Bromwich and Wednesbury.
