A Birmingham entrepreneur is expanding his activity businesses to the north after enjoying rapid growth in his home city.

Daniel Bridgewater launched Buckt in early 2017 to offer a wide range of interesting and sometimes unusual activities every month to a database of subscribers in the Birmingham area.

After signing up more than 700 people in the city, he is now targeting new markets in the North West by expanding into Manchester.

The 27 year old has already signed up more than 100 subscribers with the aim of matching the numbers he has seen in Birmingham over the past two years.

Daniel said he had tapped into the Manchester's blogging community to raise awareness of the service and researched potential partners on leisure review websites.

"We've been checking out as many locations and partners as we can do to make sure the quality is good enough," he said.

"There are also quite a few brands we have worked with in the West Midlands that have branches up there such as Whistle Punks Urban Axe Throwing.

"Businesses have been receptive to us approaching them about partnerships.

"Once people have an idea about what it is we do and the types of providers we work with down in Birmingham, it's been relatively easy.

"The challenge is making sure the price is right and it fits our cost model.

"We are getting really good partnerships with providers and have 200 in place in Birmingham.

"We have around 25 at the moment in Manchester but should definitely be able to get the city up to that level."

Daniel was a finalist in BirminghamLive's 30 Under 30 campaign last year which celebrated the most inspiring young people living and working across the city.

He was shortlisted not only for his business acumen but also his work with Birmingham charity LoveBrum, the One Million Mentors campaign and his launch of Fourth Wall, a group which uses the arts to introduce young people to social change.

There is still time to enter 30 Under 30 this year - click through here for more details and to submit a nomination.

Daniel was inspired to found Buckt after coming out of a long-term relationship and deciding to write a bucket list of things he had always wanted to do but never had the chance.

Subscribers pay a monthly fee of up to £25 and receive a box through the post containing tickets to five different activities with Birmingham City FC, rugby club Wasps and The REP theatre among his substantial roster of partners.

They range from the more mainstream - beer festival, museum visits and adventure golf - to the slightly more left of centre such as learning to skateboard, African drum lessons and alpaca walking.

He operates from an office at Innovation Birmingham and now is on the hunt for more staff.

Looking ahead, the University of Birmingham graduate said he was confident the business could replicate the success he had so far enjoyed here in other UK cities and was eyeing a launch in a third location.

He added: "At the moment, we're devoting all of your resources to growing Manchester.

"Once we get that to a similar level as we have in Birmingham then we will go into another region.

"With every new city, we'll be recruiting a new member of staff. We are looking at either Leeds or Bristol and potentially Cardiff.

"We are also thinking about London but the issue there is that it's just too big a beast so we would want to be in a stronger position before we move down there."
