Business Link in the West Midlands has launched a dedicated credit crunch hotline and a series of workshops to help companies to get through the downturn.
Business owners and entrepreneurs can ring 0845 002 0900 for guidance on everyday business concerns, including managing outstanding debts and cash flow, business planning, reducing energy costs and sourcing finance. The line will be open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday.
Business Link is also to hold workshops on the theme. To be held across Birmingham, the Black Country, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent, Warwickshire and Worcestershire.
Chief executive Alison White said: “There is no doubt that we are in the midst of an economic slowdown and we have to make sure that the support we offer fits in with what companies require and at the moment that is fast, efficient and targeted advice.
“The hotline and the workshops are an important part of our response and provide companies with access to practical advice and information when they need it most.
“Importantly, we can help to steer businesses through the current economic climate and help to prevent future issues and also assist to boost performance.
“SMEs are a vital part of our regional economy and are responsible for employing over one million people. We are determined to make sure they get the support they need to overcome the challenges and, importantly, make the most of any opportunities out there.”
The initiative is one of the biggest undertaken by Business Link West Midlands since it announced a major restructuring of its own in the summer. AWM is behind the venture.
