Business Link is extending its credit crunch helpline until the end of the year due to demand from across the region.
Of greatest concern to callers is access to finance, with 43 per cent of companies requesting urgent information on cash flow, debt management, raising finance and paying suppliers.
Next comes business management, with 38 per cent of callers asking for support, followed by customer care, legal problems, health and safety matters and environmental issues.
Research carried out by Business Link West Midlands has shown that firms employing fewer than five people accounted for 51 per cent of all calls.
