Birmingham's Bullring centre is anticipating a busy week as shoppers make up for lost time on their Christmas shopping.

More than 220,000 shoppers braved the snow and ice on the final weekend before Christmas, with almost half of the total visiting on Sunday

Bullring bosses said 132,000 shoppers were at the centre on Saturday - slightly down on the total expected, while a further 100,000 arrived on Sunday.

Most retailers opened on Saturday before the centre closed an hour early at 7pm.

Tim Walley, general manager at Bullring, added: “Our car parks were full on Sunday afternoon, signalling that shoppers were beating the snow."

The centre is open between 9.30am – 10pm this week until Thursday, while stores will be open from 9am until 5pm on Christmas Eve.
