A landmark commercial scheme in Stratford-upon-Avon is set to provide new premises for Midlands law firm Needham & James.

Stockdale Land is building 30,000 sq ft of office premises on the site for the former Harlequin pub on Bridgeway for the firm, which will be relocating to the new building next year to bring its 120 staff from the current four sites under one roof. Surveyors and estate agents Knight Frank will also be relocating 20 staff to showcase retail premises on the ground floor.

The site, which fronts onto Bridgeway, is in the area designated within the District Council's Waterfront masterplan.

The aim of plan is to improve pedestrian movement and enhance the environment along the town's river front.

John Liggins, managing director of Stockdale, said: " Bridgeway is a main through road for Stratford and a key entrance route into the town.

"The old Harlequin pub has been derelict since a fire four years ago and was giving a bad impression.

"The new office building has been designed as a contemporary structure that will complement the environment."
