The Birmingham concession of toy store Hamleys, which was part-owned by collapsed high street investor Baugur, is set to close later this month with the loss of six jobs.
The outlet in the House of Fraser department store will shut on April 18 and much of its stock is being sold at deeply discounted rates before the closure.
Icelandic firm Baugur last month announced it would file for bankruptcy as protection from creditors after Landsbanki called in the group’s £1?billion debts. Its UK arm, BG Holdings – which owns stakes in UK retailers such as Hamleys, Iceland and House of Fraser – was already in administration.
Administrators at PricewaterhouseCoopers are trying to sell Baugur’s interests in Hamleys as well as its 34 per cent stake in House of Fraser.
