A Birmingham opticians has celebrated its first birthday by donating £1,000 to an armed forces charity.
Specsavers in Harborne handed over a cheque to Help For Heroes, it chosen charity for 2013, after a day of fundraising on the High Street.
It also gave free eye wear for life to veteran Ben Zissman.
Company founder Dame Mary Perkins also flew in from Guernsey to congratulate staff on a successful year.
Store director Amit Madlani said: “Help for Heroes is close to our hearts here at the store, as well as the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, which is where a number of war veterans are treated not far from us.
“We are inspired by those who risk their lives serving in the armed forces and if there’s some small way that we can show our appreciation then we want to help.”
