A 52-bedroom hotel with permission to expand has gone on the market for offers around £3.3 million.

The Birmingham Hotel, at Poets Corner, in Small Heath, has been put up for sale after detailed planning permission to more than double its size was given the green light.

The plans would see the budget hotel transformed into a smarter, more modern, establishment with up to 177 bedrooms.

Paul Barrasford of Savills, which is marketing the property, said the sale was an investment opportunity for entrepreneurs to invest in the city’s tourism sector.

He said: “This is an exciting opportunity to acquire an existing budget hotel and convert it into a highly profitable and successful modern business class hotel, increasing capital value significantly whilst creating substantial operating cash flows and profits.”

The hotel already has in place 120 parking spaces, meeting and function rooms, a restaurant and a bar.

The established business is being billed as a convenient base for visitors to the city.
