A WELL-KNOWN father and son team from Birmingham's legal world have raised almost £2,500 for charity after running the Virgin London Marathon.
Simon Mortimer, a solicitor in Birmingham City Council’s criminal prosecutions team and his son Ben, events assistant at St Philips Chambers in Temple Row, completed the run in just over four hours and 17 minutes.
Their charity of choice, Heart Research UK, will help fund a new project at Birmingham Children’s Hospital which will benefit babies following complex heart surgery through a congenital heart assessment tool and a home monitoring programme.
“For this to happen the charity has to raise £100,000, at the moment they have just over £36,000,” Simon said.
Father and son hope to raise £4,000 and donors can still add to the duo’s fundraising total by visiting: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/samandbenrun.
