Midland business veteran Bijan Sedghi has joined top law firm HBJ Gateley Wareing.
Mr Sedghi, former chairman and chief executive of BI Group, one of the Midlands' leading business figures, becomes a director.
He was the driving force behind the growth of BI, taking it from a market value of £500,000 to over £100 million under his chairmanship prior to its sale to National Industries Company, Kuwait.
For over twenty years, he has held numerous public and private company directorships in the manufacturing sector whilst simultaneously acting as a non-executive adviser to Government departments, including the Department of Trade and Industry and the Department of Health.
Currently, he is an adviser to the University of Wales.
Mr Sedghi is a solicitor and was a partner in Edge Ellison - now part of Hammonds - where he developed a substantial national insolvency practice.
Subsequently, he specialised in mergers and acquisitions for quoted and larger corporate clients prior to joining BI to build an international engineering group. His role at HBJ Gateley Wareing will be to provide the board and the partnership with strategic advice and to contribute to the firm's legal services in the major UK corporate and listed company sector.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr Sedghi said: "I am delighted to have joined HBJ Gateley Wareing, which is now a national firm, successfully serving its clients throughout the UK.
"The firm has ambitious growth plans and I believe that my board experience in international manufacturing will be of assistance to them. Above all, HBJ Gateley Wareing is a highly effective law firm, delivering a first-class value-added service to clients. I am seriously impressed by the firm's 'no-nonsense' practical approach to transacting its clients' business and delivering excellent value for money."
Mike Ward, HBJ Gateley Wareing senior partner, added: "We are delighted Bijan has chosen to join us. He is one of the most respected business figures in the Midlands' market and on the wider national and international stage.
"His invaluable expertise and experience will not only guide the board but also help us work to develop synergies."
