The campaign to bring more civil servants to the West Midlands intensifies today with a special round table event.

Located in Birmingham, the city's inward investment service, will be meeting senior civil servants to discuss the potential for more Goverment departments to move to the region.

The meeting at Wragge & Co's city centre office follows the success of bringing the new Gambling Commission's HQ operation to Birmingham.

It forms part of Locate in Birmingham's Next Stop Birmingham campaign - the city ' s response to the Lyon's Review, a Government commissioned report that encourages government departments to move out of London and into the regions and investigates clustering government activity.

The Next Stop Birmingham campaign presents the powerful business case for the city and provides a strong business argument for government organisations and sponsored bodies to relocate.

Mike Loftus, manager of Locate, in Birmingham, said: "We expect the Government to drive this relocation process.

"We know that the fundamental business case for dispersal to Birmingham is very robust."

The Next Stop Birmingham Campaign, devised by Locate in Birmingham, is supported by Birmingham Chamber of Commerce, Marketing Birmingham and Birmingham Forward together with a range of private and public sector organisations in the region.
