Veteran Birmingham Post cartoonist Gemini is set to be honoured by the oldest Press Club in the world tomorrow.
The work of Gemini - our own Bert Hackett - will be celebrated at a Christmas lunch attended by the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor John Hood and Brum celebrity comic Jasper Carrott.
The occasion, at the Burlington Hotel, New Street, is also the 140th birthday of the Birmingham Press Club, which was founded at Suffield's Hotel, in Union Passage, on December 16, 1865.
Acting Editor of The Birmingham Post Tony Lennox praised Mr Hack-ett's work. He said: "Gemini's contribution toThe
Birmingham Post over the years has been tremendous. He has the unerring ability to get under the skin of a story and throw a fresh light on it. Simply, he's an institution."
Press Club chairman John Lamb said: "We will also be using the occasion to mark the work of Bert. It should be a hugely enjoyable event." ..SUPL:
