Redditch-based Barretts Outdoors Limited has been placed into administration.
Steven Muncaster and David Whitehouse, partners at MCR, have been appointed as joint administrators for the firm that specialises in retailing outdoor equipment including tents, clothing and footwear from brands such as North Face, Berghaus, and Aztec.
The company was originally established in the 1850s before being incorporated in 1963. The turnover for the year ended March 31, 2008, was over £3.6million.
Steven Muncaster of MCR said: “Barretts is a good business with market potential. Its recent financial difficulties arise from current market conditions, which have put significant pressure on its cash flow.
“We are concentrating on selling the business as a going concern.”
